Bairbre Crowley, Acupuncturist & Iyengar yoga teacher uses acupuncture & yoga in combination to help men & women who are planning to get pregnant & who want to be in the best possible health in order to do so
Acupuncture is used to assist fertility in women by balancing & regulating varying patterns & irregularities in the body during the various phases of the menstrual cycle. Dietary advice in accordance with Traditional Chinese Medicine which is unique to each individual is also very important part of the treatment.
Yoga assists in fertility treatment by balancing hormones, directing blood & energy to the uterus & connecting the body to the parasympathetic nervous system so that the body & mind work in harmony.
“From my experiences working with men & woman on their fertility journey with acupuncture & yoga, I can’t stress enough the importance of using these 2 disciplines side by side. In combination, both assist the various organs of the body to work more efficiently & therefore; less strain is put on the reproductive organs which in turn facilitates conception.” Bairbre

Barbara’s Latest Work
I am a fully registered Acupuncturist & Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, having initially trained for 3 years with the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland & in 2009 I undertook postgraduate training at Nanjing University’s International Acupuncture Training Centre in China. I offer general acupuncture and specialise in fertility, pregnancy care, PMS and pre birthing acupuncture; areas in which I have enjoyed additional training with expert teachers including Debra Betts. I also treat tiredness, stress, anxiety, & depression. As my approach is purely holistic, I take into account all aspects of my client’s health to form a diagnosis unique to each individual & also advise in relation to diet & lifestyle including yoga. I presently work with the Acupuncture Foundation College as clinical supervisor for third year student clinics & assist in student practical assessments. I am also a fully certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher.
Iyengar yoga is a very skilled & precise practice of yoga. The Iyengar method of Yoga is initially learnt through the in-depth study of asanas (posture) and pranayama (breathe control). The founder of this tradition, B.K.S. Iyengar who is presently 94 years of age has systematised over 200 classical yoga Asanas and 14 different types of Pranayamas (with variations of many of them) from the simple to the incredibly difficult. These have been structured and categorised so as to allow a beginner to progress surely and safely from basic postures to the most advanced as they gain flexibility, strength and sensitivity in mind, body and spirit. Iyengar yoga emphasises a very beautiful & natural attention to detail & is in itself a complete therapy. When regularly practiced it balances the body & harmonises the mind.
Yoga class description:
Bairbre is a fully certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher, Acupuncturist & Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner & all of her classes integrate a purposeful, meditative quality to allow for an experience of connection and reflection while the body explores expansion and renewal. This is a mixed level class suitable for absolute beginners and students with more experience of any style of yoga. Alignment is very important in Iyengar yoga, this creates a strong base from which to work, providing new students with a solid foundation and allows students with more experience to go to the core of their practice in order to strengthen and ground their yoga asanas. The main focus will be on alignment and body awareness & the course will be energizing as well as rejuvenating. As each class unfolds we will explore both active and meditative postures.
I am a fully Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher having trained with Aisling Guirke for 2 years & as a dedicated Iyengar Yoga student & teacher, I continue to regularly study & attend training courses with senior Iyengar teachers, most recently in Italy with Christian Pisano. Although my main influences have been Iyengar teachers, I am drawn to yoga of all traditions, believing; that the essence of yoga practice comes from within & in order to understand & learn we simply have to look with an open mind within ourselves at life all around us.
