Reiki Healing @ The Olive Tree Studio, 15 Grantham Street, Dublin 8
Olive Tree Studio is the home of excellent Reiki healing in Dublin
is a non invasive therapy. The client is treated while fully clothed. Although, there is normally some hands on work during the session, if the client feels uncomfortable with that, the entire session may be conducted without direct touch. The comfort and relaxation of the client is paramount. The Reiki system traces its origins back to the early 1900’s in Japan. It was originally a spiritual practice with its roots in Zen, Buddhism and Taoism. By the 1920’s a healing practice had emerged from the teachings. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist monk developed the healing system. It is from him, that the various Reiki healing styles emerged. Reiki came to the West later on in the 20th century. Two main strands developed, Traditional Japanese Reiki and Western Reiki. The most obvious difference between the two being, that in Traditional Japanese Reiki, the Reiki practitioner senses the flows of energy and places the hands on or above the body in accordance with the flow of Ki (Qi/Chi). Whereas, the Western Reiki system is more systemised as regards the placements of the Reiki practitioner’s hands. Hands are placed or held above the body at certain points and in a certain pattern.
During a Reiki Healing Session, the Reiki practitioner will place their hands on or above the body of the client at different points. A standard Reiki session at The Olive Tree Studio lasts approximately one hour. The client may experience strong or gentle physical, emotional and intellectual responses during the session. Typical physical reactions might include, changes in breathing patterns, muscle twitches. Typical emotional reactions feelings of release, including laughter, crying and a sense of deep happiness. Clients often fall asleep during the session, such is the level of relaxation. Intellectual reactions might include thoughts popping into the head, seemingly arising from nowhere. You may have all or none of these experiences. The best advice is to expect nothing, relax and accept whatever you need, during the session, into both your body and mind. At The Olive Tree Studio, Reiki Healing is practised by Estelle Birdy, Ina Kearney and Karen Griffin
